General Dog Care

Feeding & Water Basics - Grooming
Potty Training - Behaviour modification

Dogs are very different than cats when it comes to house training.  This can cause lots of fustration for people when they bring their new puppy home.  My best advice is keeping track of time, and learning the cues from your dog.  Try to take them to the appropriate bathroom location on a regular scheduled basis.  Give praise when done correctly, and when a mistake happens take them to the same location and give praise.  Repeat over and over, this is a lot of work, but in the end you will have a dog that goes to the bathroom where you want, and you accomplished this by praise only, not punishment.

Regular grooming, bathing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning is also very important in dogs. I know this is a lot of work, but brushing the teeth on a daily basis is great for the health of your dog. This is the best piece of advice I can give you.

Most dogs also require a structured feeding schedule, with a measured amount of food.  Always provide fresh water. The biggest problem I encounter is not using an actual measuring cup. Please use one, it makes a huge difference.
